How to use the SearocK Swing Safely

  • How to Use Safely

SearocK® is designed with a specific purpose in mind: to provide a safe and enjoyable space for infants and children. It's important to emphasize that the SearocK® should only be used when the vessel is docked, anchored, or moored. Always fasten your child in the 5-point harness when in use regardless if on land or boat.

Please use the SearocK® responsibly and enjoy it as much as we have.

  • PFD Regulations

The United States Coast Guard published an Interim Rule in the June 24, 2002, Federal Register (67 FR 42488) requiring all children under 13 years old to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket, that fits, when UNDERWAY on a recreational vessel: unless they are in an enclosed cabin or below decks. The regulation applies on waters subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, on the waters of states with no requirement and on the high seas beyond the territorial seas for recreational vessels owned in the United States.

    | Underway (definition): vessel in motion, i.e. when not moored, at anchor, or aground.

  • SearocK's® Position on PFD's

Always follow federal and state laws regarding Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs). Federal law mandates PFDs be worn while underway. PFD state laws vary but typically mirror federal regulations. While most states align with federal rules, there may be differences. Check state regulations for specifics. Resources include state boating agency websites, local marine enforcement, and USCG summaries of state laws. It's required by law to have a child wear a PFD while underway, preferably held securely by a parent or guardian.

5-Point Harness

For optimal safety, please ensure your child is always secured with the 5-point harness when using the swing. Under no circumstances should your child be in the swing without the 5-point harness securely attached.

We urge you to follow these guidelines diligently to ensure the safety of our little ones.

SEAROCK'S® STANCE

SearocK® was founded by parents of two young children. Their boating adventures predominantly occur when the vessel is anchored, tied up with friends, or simply mooring at docks. Their children are not comfortable and often hot wearing the PFD all day and when the boat is at rest. The SearocK® provides a safe resting place for infants and children protected from the sun by the top from which it is suspended.

Recognizing the discomfort and overheating their children experienced while wearing PFDs for prolonged periods, especially during stationary boat times, they sought a solution. Thus, SearocK® was born, offering a safe and shaded resting spot for infants and children. Suspended from above, its protective cover shields little ones from the sun's rays, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment while the boat is at rest.

5-Point Harness

The 5-point harness is undoubtedly the cornerstone of safety on the SearocK®. This essential feature guarantees that children remain securely fastened in their seats throughout the entirety of the boating excursion. By providing a comprehensive restraint system that secures the child at five key points – shoulders, hips, and between the legs – the harness ensures maximum safety and peace of mind for parents.

Safety Stabilizer

Ensuring safety and stability is paramount when using the SearocK®, which is why our safety stabilizer is an essential component of the experience. This stabilizer is designed to be attached to a nearby anchor point. By doing so, it effectively minimizes excessive rocking, providing a stable and secure environment for infants and children to enjoy.

By incorporating the safety stabilizer into your SearocK® setup, you can rest assured that your little ones are safely supported, allowing them to relax and enjoy their time on the water without excessive rocking or discomfort.
